| INDEX for full listing LOGIC for what it is HOME for the rest | ORION THE HUNTER Old Orion, starry hunter, like a friend up in the sky, your belt beckons, my mind wanders, when you catch my roaming eye. Thoughts of time and space and heaven, of far and near and great and small; concentrated by your aura, ancient mysteries enthral. Nightly stalker, sometimes shrouded behind cloaks of cloud you hide. An inspiration, your constellation you span nations with your stride. Fond recognition for so many, from dawn of human history. The more we look, the more we learn; the more we learn, the more we see. Your dagger tip, both womb and scrotum: massive Orion Nebula; your star-dust seeded, light years distant, gassy birthplace of new stars. Sirius, in Canis Major, is at your heel; faithful Dog Star. Betelguese - a name to savour - is your Red Giant right scapula. Zodiacal cousin Taurus charges menacing nearby; but undaunted, with bow bended, steadfastly you track the sky. For every answer, many questions: Why? What? When? Where? Who are we? In staring at your starry splendour, I'm pondering infinity. |
